Panel 1: Genesis, Decay and Recycling
This panel asks how materials, or specific concepts of materiality, determine the creation, perception, decay or restoration of art works through their own temporality. The aim is to see the temporalities of the material in relation to the temporality of the respective artefact or object and also to discuss how these temporal-material relations shape the understanding of what is seen as art. To what extent are concepts of time relevant to certain conceptions of art (such as "supratemporality")? How are concepts of time in art to be understood when questions of materiality are given greater attention?
