Licensing und Rights

When commissioning the digitisation of objects from museums, libraries, etc., be sure to secure the necessary reuse and usage rights so that you and the Cluster may use the digitized materials.

In this context, it is preferable that the digitized materials are made available by the institutions under open licenses such as CC0 (Public Domain) or CC BY, if legally possible.

If you are further interested in the legal conditions of the digitization of cultural heritage, please have a look at the suggested readings in the Related Links section at the bottom of this page.

Indication of Funding

For newly digitized objects or newly created digital assets, the DFG funding reference must be included - if Cluster funds were used to create them.

The DFG guidelines provide a standard funding reference that must be used. Therefore, for EXC 2020, please only use this precise wording:

Gefördert durch die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) im Rahmen der Exzellenzstrategie des Bundes und der Länder innerhalb des Exzellenzclusters Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective – EXC 2020 – Projekt-ID 390608380.

Funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) under Germany’s Excellence Strategy in the context of the Cluster of Excellence Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective – EXC 2020 – Project ID 390608380.
