Ausgehend von Marion Braschs Roman Ab jetzt ist Ruhe (2012) verschiebt Narges Hashempours Theaterinszenierung Tentative Title: Brasch (2023) die Geschichte der Familie Brasch in einen anderen Resonanzraum. DDR-Vergangenheit und iranische Gegenwart, familiäre Erinnerung und künstlerische Übersetzung treten dabei in ein spannungsvolles Verhältnis zueinander. Der bilinguale Band Die Braschs, wo sie nie gewesen sind dokumentiert diese Bewegung nicht als abgeschlossenen Prozess, sondern führt sie weiter: in Briefen an Narges Hashempour, in Reflexionen zur Entstehung des Theatertexts, in Gesprächen mit Marion Brasch und in literarisch-fiktionalen Annäherungen an ihren Bruder, den Dichter und Theaterautor Thomas Brasch. In den Blick rücken so das Theater als Ort der Übersetzung, die Erinnerung als geteilte und umkämpfte Praxis und die Möglichkeit, Geschichten so zu adaptieren, dass verschiedene Realitäten miteinander in Berührung kommen, ohne ihre Differenzen aufzuheben.

Based on Marion Brasch’s novel Ab jetzt ist Ruhe (2012), Narges Hashempour’s theatre production Tentative Title: Brasch (2023) shifts the story of the Brasch family into a different cultural and political space, where it takes on new resonances. GDR past and Iranian present, family memory and artistic translation enter into a tense relationship. The bilingual volume Die Braschs, wo sie nie gewesen sind does not document this movement as a completed process, but carries it forward: in letters to Narges Hashempour, in reflections on the creation of the dramatic text, in conversations with Marion Brasch, and in literary-fictional approaches to her brother, the poet and playwright Thomas Brasch. This brings into focus the theatre as a site of translation, memory as a shared and contested practice, and the possibility of adapting stories in such a way that different realities come into contact with one another without erasing their differences.
