Panel 2: Generating Time in the Arts
How does the specific temporality of a material determine the artistic work because, for example, it requires a particularly fast or a very long processing time? How does the temporality of art relate to the material of artefacts? How does a (constantly changing) understanding of the arts change the view of their materials and, conversely, how does the engagement with materiality shape the understanding of the arts? It may be a concern of art to "control", to "master" the materials and thus also to influence their temporality – but is it possible at all to control temporal processes of the material or do temporal-material dynamics break through here?
