Cluster member Frank Fischer has been interviewed for Chefs von Devs, a newsletter aimed at CTOs, CIOs and IT leads published by the IT news portal Golem.de. The interview, which gives a captivating glimpse into the links between informatics and the humanities and the role of programming in literary scholarship, is available on the website of Golem.de (in German only).
Fischer, Professor of Digital Humanities at Freie Universität and a longstanding member of Research Area 5: "Building Digital Communities", focuses his research on the interface of computer sciences and literary studies, combining his interest in literary texts from antiquity to the present with cutting-edge computational methods. His projects include the Digital Observatory of World Literature and the Drama Corpora Project (DraCor). The latter has also led to the development of Battle of the Plays, a card game that offers students and curious scholars a playful introduction to literary network analysis.
