Raphaëlle Efoui-Deplanque is a former PhD candidate at the Cluster of Excellence "Temporal Communities" and the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School for Literary Studies. Her research focuses on the roles of narration in the construction of the African diaspora as a community. She has a BA in Political Sciences and an MA in Cultural Policy from Sciences Po Paris, as well as an MA in Creative Writing from the Université Paris VIII. Her research interests include Afro-Diasporic Literature, Translational Blackness, Cultural Studies, Postcolonial/Decolonial approaches and practices of Creative Research (recherche-création).

Former research includes an EXC 2020 doctoral research project, The Webs ‘We’ Tell. Making community through ‘conversations’ across contemporary Afrodiasporic literature (2021–2024).
