Sona Mnatsakanyan is a former doctoral candidate in the Department of Slavonic Languages and Literatures at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, under the supervision of Professor Susanne Frank. As a PhD researcher, she was affiliated with the Friedrich Schlegel Graduate School of Literary Studies and conducted her research within EXC 2020 as part of the project (Post)Soviet Literary Cosmopolis.

She earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Armenian Studies from the State University of Armenia in Yerevan.
