zeit · brechen — Versatzstücke queerer / trans* Dichtung explores the question of how different temporalities shape the material and language of literature. Conjoining poetry and artistic essays (by Zsuka Nagy and Łęko Zygmuntówne, former Dorothea Schlegel Artist-in-Residence) with an excerpt from a novel (by Sergei Davydov) and a conversation (between the latter and Alexandra Ksenofontova), the volume renders visible the authors' personal experiences of time – trans*, queer or gender-ambiguous – in all their manifold entanglements with social and historical regimes of temporality, and, in so doing, articulates countervailing concepts of the past, the present and the future as a means of resistance against oppressive contexts.
The publication has its roots in a literary event in the Echo. Echo. series which took place in September 2024 as part of the cooperation between the international literature festival berlin (ilb) and EXC 2020.
Translations from Hungarian, Polish and Russian into German by Ruth Altenhofer, Maria Buzhor, Agnieszka Kozłowska, Pawel Matusz and Eva Zador. With an introduction by Sima Ehrentraut (Constellations) and Alexandra Ksenofontova (Research Area 4: Literary Currencies).
