Tigran Amiryan to curate the FOOD & FOOTAGE event "Embodied Memories. Variations on Contemporary Armenian Art" at ZK/U
News from Sep 19, 2025
Tigran Amiryan, Early Career Fellow in Research Area 1: Competing Communities, will be curating the upcoming instalment of the FOOD & FOOTAGE series at ZK/U Berlin, "Embodied Memories. Variations on Contemporary Armenian Art", on 24 September 2025 at 7 pm.
As part of the event, the CSN Lab collective (also featuring Arsen Abrahamyan and Mariam Yeghiazaryan) will launch their new publication, Memory of the Body. Conjoining the perspectives of art anthropology, cultural memory analysis, queer memory studies and decolonial critique, the volume examines how the body is reflected and (non)represented in contemporary Armenian art and culture. With its conceptualisation of the body as a multi-layered record of past events and a container of memory, the book traces the body in its many forms – from Soviet to decolonised, from impossible to queer, from experiencing pleasure to wounded by war, from rebellious to disappearing.
The book presentation will be accompanied by artist talks and a screening of films by queer and feminist visual artists Amassia Niziblian und lucine talalyan.
