We congratulate Prof. Dr. Yvonne Albers, a former member of EXC 2020, on her new position as Professor for Arabic Studies at the University of Bamberg.

From 2022 to 2025, Albers was a postdoctoral researcher and academic coordinator at the Cluster (Research Area 1: "Competing Communities"). In her research project Chronotopias: Revolution and the Cultural Magazine in the Arab Long Sixties, she examined how cultural magazines of the 1950s to 1970s contributed to and counterpointed the Arab leftist project of emancipation and the concomitant understandings of 'revolution'.

Albers has held positions as an associate fellow at Europe in the Middle East – the Middle East in Europe at the Forum Transregionale Studien in Berlin and as a postdoctoral researcher at Philipps-Universität Marburg. She has also been a visiting researcher at the American University of Beirut and the Orient-Institut Beirut.
