We congratulate Dr. Friederike Schäfer, a former member of EXC 2020, on her new position as research associate at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW), where she has also taken up the role of deputy head of the academy's archive and collections.

From 2021 to 2025, Schäfer was a postdoctoral researcher and academic coordinator at the Cluster (Research Area 2: "Travelling Matters"). In her research project Earth(ly) Matters. How Exhibition Spaces Capture Natural Environments, she examined exhibitions as spaces that blend aesthetic experience and knowledge production.

Schäfer has held positions as a researcher and lecturer at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Karlsruhe University for Arts and Design, and Anhalt University of Applied Sciences. She has also worked as a curatorial and project assistant on international exhibitions such as dOCUMENTA (13).

We are delighted Schäfer will continue to be affiliated with EXC 2020 as a participating researcher.
