"Petrarchan Passions: Affects and Community-Formation in the Renaissance World" - publication edited by Bernhard Huss, Timothy Kircher and Gur Zak

News from Sep 05, 2022

The relationship between affects and community-formation in Petrarch's work is the subject of the 8th volume of the Italienzentrum's publication series entitled Petrarchan Passions: Affects and Community-Formation in the Renaissance World, edited by EXC 2020 member Bernhard Huss, Timothy Kircher and Gur Zak. Petrarch's pervasive and complex preoccupation with affects, passions and emotions in his writings influenced the formation of various kinds of emotional, intellectual and political 'communities' in the early modern period. The contributions to the present volume examine this and other aspects in relation to rhetorical and literary strategies and the reception of Petrarch's writings, taking into account both his Latin and vernacular works.

All texts in the volume are openly available through the Schriften des Italienzentrums der Freien Universität.
