The award will begin in 2020, extending over at least two years, with a possibility of extension. Rivas Venegas will be conducting his research at the University of the Basque Country, where he will be working on literature and censorship as a part of the research group Historical Memory in the Iberian Literatures that aims "to promote the meeting and discussion of leading researchers of the historical memory of the Spanish civil war in the different literatures of the Iberian area."
