Central Management of Publications and Research Data

The Cluster of Excellence 2020 "Temporal Communities: Doing Literature in a Global Perspective" (EXC TC) is committed to making academic research more widely accessible in a sustainable manner, in ways that align with the Freie Universität's policies on Open Access and Research Data. We record all publications, intend to make them available in a repository, and publish research datasets.

About

Registry of Publications

EXC TC aims to record and archive all publications by its members (in the form of bibliographic references and full texts) for internal and public documentation purposes. All Cluster publications as well as Cluster-related publications are continuously documented in an EXC TC Bibliography, managed with the open-source reference management software Zotero. Selective bibliographies will be made publicly available in the context of the Living Handbook of Temporal Communities (LHTC), and as part of reports for the Cluster’s advisory boards and the DFG.

  • Cluster publications are publications by EXC TC members that originate from research conducted within the Cluster and acknowledge the source of funding using the official credit as required by the DFG. Note that only publications bearing this credit count towards the Cluster’s output for the DFG.
  • Cluster-related publications are publications by EXC TC members that do not directly originate from the Cluster’s institutional context but have thematic or methodological proximity to the Cluster’s research questions.

Publications can be registered by all EXC TC members any time via an online form. Reminders are sent out at least once per year. If you would like to have access to the shared Zotero Libraries, please notify publications@temporal-communities.de.

Repository

Copyright regulations and rights of use permitting, full text publications will be deposited in the Freie Universität’s institutional repository, the Refubium. The aim is to make available all genuine open access publications, pre-prints and publications approved for secondary publication that originate from the Cluster.

Research Data Registration

In agreement with the DFG "Guidelines for Safeguarding Good Research Practice", EXC TC recognizes the importance of research data for our research processes and classifies the publication of research data as an essential part of academic publishing. To this end, EXC TC aims at archiving all kinds of research data and making publishable datasets findable and accessible, whenever legally and technically possible. For recommendations about the licensing, documentation, referencing, storage and backup of research data, please consider the suggested readings at the bottom of this page. For support, EXC TC members can also reach out to the Research Data Management Team at Freie Universität’s University Library.

Upon request, datasets generated within EXC TC research projects are indexed and/or being made available through the institutional repository of Freie Universität Berlin, the Refubium, to the extent legally permissible. EXC TC members are kindly asked to register their research datasets by using the provided online form.
