Reading, it has often been said, is a black box: As a practice, we can only ever grasp it 'in flagrante'. The first format of the READING READING project responds to this difficulty by approaching reading from its absolute limit: the illegible.

At the end of October 2024, an internal hybrid workshop allowed the participating artists and scholars to share the current state of their engagement with reading as an aesthetic practice in preparation for the publication of their findings in a collection of essays and various participatory and performative formats.

Forming part of con·stel·la·tions, the Cluster's publication series dedicated to mixed formats that emerge from the interplay of artistic and academic perspectives, "Illegibilities Reflecting Reading" engages with a broad range of questions to sound out the multifaceted effects and practices of reading.
