(Digital) games are becoming increasingly relevant to literary studies, not only as narrative forms, but also as a dynamic space in which literature circulates, is reimagined and shared by global communities. It was against this backdrop that Dîlan Canan Çakir (Research Area 5: "Building Digital Communities") participated in the workshop "Ludic Thinking" (funded by the VW Foundation), which mapped the current state of game studies and explored, through exemplary case studies, how the field can contribute to addressing socially relevant issues such as politics, environmental and climate protection, cultural heritage and crisis management. Available now via open access, the resulting position paper proposes an integrative and transdisciplinary approach to game studies that brings together previously divergent knowledge cultures.
