Publication | Çakir, Kinder and Möring on Games and Literature
News from Jul 22, 2026
Exploring the intersections of literary studies and digital games, Games and Literature, the new edited volume by former Cluster member Dîlan Canan Çakir (Research Area 5: "Building Digital Communities"), Anna Kinder and Sebastian Möring, considers games both as narrative media and as cultural objects whose collection, preservation and scholarly analysis raise new questions for literary and game studies. Assembling contributions from literary scholars, game researchers and representatives of collecting institutions, the volume examines how games are read, analysed and archived. It also reflects on the changing status of digital games within academia and cultural memory.
The open-access publication emerged from an international conference held at the German Literature Archive Marbach in June 2023.
