News from Feb 25, 2026

This year's first curated collection of EXC 2020's digital journal Articulations approaches literature as a performative practice that actively builds and sustains temporal communities across time. It understands literature as something that happens in action (through transmission, performance and use) within dynamic networks of human and non-human actors. Focusing on performativity as both a methodological lens and a field of inquiry, the contributions to this curated collection explore how literature is continually rewritten, remediated and renegotiated in artistic, digital and interdisciplinary contexts.

The curated collection "Performativity" is the result of work carried out in EXC 2020's Research Area 2: "Travelling Matters" and was published online in February 2026. The collection comprises two Insights by Matthias Warstat and Nina Tolksdorf, and a Spark by Ana Rocío Jouli, an artistic contribution that interweaves cinematic and poetic forms.

Edited with a Curatorial Statement by Friederike Schäfer and Nina Tolksdorf.
