How to Join
There are two main ways to become a research fellow and take part in the exciting work happening at the Cluster:
Since its inception, the Cluster of Excellence "Temporal Communities" has issued annual fellowship calls for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers, with a particular focus on scholars from the Global South. As funding for EXC 2020 was not renewed in the 2025 round of the Excellence Strategy of the German federal and state governments, we can only offer self-funded fellowships in 2026. You can find the current call for self-funded fellowships here:
Artists and scholars at all career levels – from PhD students via postdocs to tenured professors – are invited to explore the wide range of scholarly and artistic endeavours being pursued at EXC 2020. If a specific research project aligns with your interests, we encourage you to reach out directly to the members involved. Collaborations often lead to fellowship invitations, which in turn provide a framework for joint activities such as co-teaching, organising lecture series, planning conferences or workshops, curating exhibitions and co-authoring publications.
